About the Role

Develop and implement individualized tutoring plans to help students improve their basic math skills, with a focus on concepts applicable to construction trades, such as measurements, fractions, decimals, geometry, and algebra.
Assess students' math proficiency levels and identify areas of weakness or misunderstanding through diagnostic assessments and discussions.
Provide personalized instruction and support to address students' learning needs, utilizing a variety of teaching methods, resources, and techniques to enhance understanding and retention.
Create engaging and interactive learning activities, worksheets, and exercises that reinforce key math concepts and skills, making connections to real-world construction scenarios whenever possible.
Assist students in understanding and solving math problems commonly encountered in construction-related tasks, including calculating dimensions, estimating materials, and interpreting blueprints.
Monitor and track students' progress, adjusting tutoring strategies and interventions as needed to promote continuous improvement and academic success.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators to provide updates on student progress, areas of improvement, and strategies for ongoing support.
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student attendance, and academic performance, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
Stay informed about best practices in math education, instructional strategies, and resources relevant to construction math tutoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Strong foundation in basic math concepts, including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry, and algebra.

  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience working with high school students preferred, particularly in mathematics or related subjects.

  • Knowledge of construction-related math concepts and applications is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and create a supportive learning environment.

  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed academically.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.

  • Proficiency in using educational technology and online resources for tutoring sessions.

  • Commitment to upholding professional standards of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions with students and stakeholders.
