About the Role

Develop and deliver comprehensive instructional lessons based on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) carpentry curriculum.
Create engaging and hands-on learning experiences to teach students fundamental carpentry skills, including framing, roofing, finishing, and formwork.
Demonstrate safe work practices and proper use of carpentry tools and equipment in both classroom and practical settings.
Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and hands-on projects, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and educational materials.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance assessments.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and curriculum planning sessions.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working as a carpenter in the construction industry, with a thorough understanding of carpentry principles and techniques.

  • Proficiency in using the NCCER carpentry curriculum and other instructional resources to facilitate student learning preferred, but not required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required.

  • Certification or licensure in carpentry preferred.

  • Commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
